If you’ve been struggling to hide dark under eye circles with your regular concealer, Glow Up judge and MAC’s Global Senior Artist Dominic Skinner may have the answer to your beauty conundrum.
In an Instagram Reel, the pro MUA demonstrated a handy hack for perfectly disguising the appearance of dark circles by dotting two different shades of concealer across his under eye area.
Dom used two shades of MAC Studio Fix 24 Hour Smooth Wear Concealer, £19.50 here, in the shades NW28 and NW35 before blending out with a fluffy brush, MAC’s 217S Blending Brush, £21 here.
The idea is that a warmer shade will help to counter any cool grey tones. “Adding a little of a deeper shade in with your skin tone shade makes a richer colour that neutralises the dark circle while harmonising with your actual skin tone,” he wrote in the caption. “So if you find going light leaves you still looking grey and ashy, then try this!”

Naturally several of Dom’s 531k followers were wowed by the hack and took to the comments section of the post to share their delight.
“Omg Dom… [this has] changed my life,” one fan enthused. “Light/illuminated concealers make me look worse… grey. I use the same colour as my skin tone but gonna try this!”
“Thank you! I have tried so many concealers, and all along I was using the wrong shade! Just blended my fave concealer with a dark foundation mixer and OMG what a difference!” another wrote.
Meanwhile a third commented, “Oh wow… Never thought to do that. I always thought the lighter the better” as a fourth added, “As a mum to a 6 week old and a 3 year old… This was a gem to find”.

Here’s hoping that Glow Up is renewed for a fourth season so we can see more of Dom’s expertise, but in the meantime you’ll catch us stalking his Instagram.
