A lot of products in the market promise to lighten the dark circles but in reality and unfortunately, the only thing they lighten is our wallet. With self care going for toss amid work from home routine and juggling household chores during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the poor lifestyle choices are resulting in increasing cases of dark circles or spots and puffy eyes, say skin experts. In an interview with Zarafshan Shiraz, Cosmetologist and Skin Expert Dr Karuna Malhotra shared, “Dark circles are very common these days. It occurs around the eye area because the skin around the eyes is very thin and sensitive. It has very lean nerve that get easily expanded or damaged due to internal or external reactions. Few common causes of dark circles are dirt, pollution, ageing, alcohol consumption, stress, mostly remaining outdoors which causes hyper pigmentation due to sun, smoking, sleep deprivation, poor diet etc. They can affect both men and women of all ages and have a variety of causes. Excess skin can cause eye bags under eyes and cause them to droop down onto your cheek. Not only are eye bags caused by excess of skin but they can also be caused by the fat pad slipping off its location or the loosening of muscle under your skin can also be the cause of eye bags or dark circles. Sometimes eye bags or dark circles can be caused by all three of the above reasons.” She listed 6 tips to treat them with home care regime. (Photo by Soroush Karimi on Unsplash)
